Chronological Bible Day 18

Jacob blesses his children and Joseph's children.

"May the God before whom my fathers
Abraham and Isaac walked faithfully
the God who has been my shepherd
all my life to this day,
the Angel who has delivered me from all harm
-may he bless these boys."

What a beautiful blessing to give to our kids. To my kids when the time comes.
I love how intimate this blessing is. It is not "May God bless you" but rather it shows a deep connection between the man who is casting the blessing and that God whom he speaks of. The God who has been my shepherd, with whom I walked and who I have allowed to guide me and tell me where to walk. May that God be with you.

We can not bless our kids with God, if we do not know God. The blessing of our kids knowing that their parents loved the Lord, that they walked faithfully by his side is the best blessing that we could ever speak to our generations. Not a generic blessing but an intimate and deep one.

May we have the grace to become Godly parents, may my life be a guidance to my kids, not of how to be successful, but how to successfully love God. If this is all I leave behind on earth after I die, I would consider myself the most successful woman in the world.
